Biography

Beatrice Lydia Mwagomba, Msc, MBBS is an Epidemiologist and National Program Manager for NCDs Control Program in the NCDs and Mental Health Unit at the Ministry of Health in Malawi, Southern Africa.  She received her MBBS from the college of Medicine in Blantyre, Malawi. She then received her Msc in Epidemiology from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.  Currently, Dr. Mwagomba is responsible for leading and coordinating NCD prevention and control interventions.  She is also a co-investigator in the NCD collaborative research project between the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the College of Medicine (Malawi) and the Ministry of Health (Malawi). In this project she is investigating the prevalence of the major NCDs and their risk factors in rural and urban Malawi, the barriers to access to NCD care, and the epidemiological link between HIV and NCDs.  Dr. Mwagomba’s desire is to develop research that is geared to inform policy and actions.
