Biography

Lorena Calderon is a Technical Officer at the Office of Non Communicable Diseases in the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in Colombia. Ms. Calderon received her law degree from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. She specializes in public policy analysis and public health administration.  Currently, Ms. Calderon is a technical officer of tobacco control where she also supports the regulatory process of the laws governing aspects influencing interventions for non-communicable diseases. Her research is related to the protection and guarantee of the human right to health, especially in the incorporation of “Conventionality control” between the Colombian legal system and the Framework Convention on tobacco control (FCTC) and human rights treaties, including life and health.
