Biography

Kavita Chauhan received her master’s degree in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, her masters in science in Social Work and bachelor of the arts in English Literature from the Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi. Ms. Chauhan has over 10 years’ experience in strategy design, technical support, advocacy, capacity building and project management. She has been involved in advocacy and capacity building efforts around strengthening Human Resources for Health (HRH) policies, practices and strategies at the state and national levels.

She has conducted research into and developed policies for alcohol control and the establishment of a Centre of Excellence in Alcohol Control at PHFI; collaborated on the development of modules for distance learning courses on Nutrition Policy Processes and health communications; and supported advocacy efforts on prioritizing neonatal and child health in India thorough an advocacy initiative funded by UNICEF. Ms. Chauhan has also provided technical assistance for the design, development, implementation, review and evaluation of public health communication and social marketing interventions and program, including capacity building efforts for the media, developing press releases, media kits, learning modules, training programs and a media facilitation center. Ms. Chauhan was selected to PHFI’s first batch of Future Faculty Programme (FFP), a highly competitive professional programme, and has worked previously with CARE International, the W.H.O., DFID and the Futures Group in India.

Project Title: Leveraging Agricultural Policies for Improved Nutrition: A Review of Policies and Programmes Related to Agriculture and Nutrition in Himachal Pradesh, India

Project Objective: Identify agricultural policies for implementation that will lead to improved health and nutrition.
